Got a day off...

Got a day off I'd like to take a ride/fishing trip. I'm in Lancaster, CA, and I'm looking for some good fishing options within a 2 hour ride. Preferrably not all freeway.
A couple ideas i'm looking at are Kennedy meadows via Nine Mile Canyon Rd. Or Upper Kern above the bridge to the wild trout section.
I haven't been to either area so any advise would be great!
Any other options would be great as well! (trout, bass, salt, whatever)
